I’m finding the word “philosophy” inadequate. What other term can we come up with ?

Anymore, philosophy seems to be a word that normal people assume is very pompous on one hand, not really giving us anything practical or even often sensible or usable outside of a topic of conversation of egos, stringently sterile, on the other hand.

And on a third hand, it seems that philosophy must be a critical analysis of other authors first, and then one synthesizes all these authors into an idea of their own.

Yes, it is philosophy in a certain sense, and is indeed useful in this sense. I don’t mean to say that there’s anything wrong with what people are using it for, necessarily…

……but for how I understand philosophy, as I said, it seems that the word ‘philosophy’ has become kind of a failed word, one that fails for what it’s really supposed to mean.

This I believe is because of the philosophy of the 20th century, the ultimate reduction that occurred of phenomenalism into phenomenology, which created a whole century of, basically, critical thinkers. It announced the license to work toward to create a smaller and smaller ideology in which the people can call themselves Philosophers to swim the pool, the small fashionable pond.

I referred to this manner in some of my other writings and posts as modern scholasticism.

I try to open up this very small and limited way of doing philosophy, to prod minds out of the dreary, dry and limited way of experiencing wisdom. By brining notice to “philosophy of” philosophy, and also “conventional philosophy”, I try to snap thinkers out of the status reiterative quo.

But I don’t think that gets very far. it’s as though sometime in the past, people were actually thinking (Heidegger struggled with this phenomenon as well) and then subsequent thinkers just took their ideas and started just reworking them in various ways along the idea of progress.

I try to call this notion out by saying “modern”: it is the modern method. And what I mean by this is that it is a common method. It is a method that moves into smaller and smaller ideas of the possibility of the universe. Consolidative; into the correlated gyre.

I feel, oppositely the modern motion, that philosophy is a large word, it has a large meaning, something more along the nature of

“The wisdom that is the living a life”.

I say philosophy’s operation is original and native to what we now call mental health.

Intelligence, knowledge, experience, feeling, mind, body, curiosity, science, analysis, possibility, life,

Over

Cognition, systemization, protocol, faith, synthesis, probability, lumps.

It is though human beings were living life until about two or 300 years ago, and since then have been in the progress towards mere existing, in a fantasy, not really living. Maybe I call this “ideology”. The Modern method . Critical thinking. Identity politics. Various words for the philosophy that we do now largely: conventional philosophy.

So, with some help, I’ve been pondering what other word I could use

I came up with those two, above.
